ORANGE AND WHITE: LEMS THE RIGHT COLOURS!

Remember the beautiful Tri-ang SpaceX LEM we've featured in the past?

A wonderful old plastic toy in detachable white and orange parts. Along with its companion Apollo capsule Its one of the larger SpaceX toys. My friend Paul Vreede covers it beautifully on his Triang SpaceX website

BILL BULLOCH

Well look at Etsy's 3DStuffUK's Elon Musk's SpaceX Falcon 9 crew dragon capsule, a 3D printed model rocket. They could be from the same SpaceX! This model is 22cm tall assembled and it looks great!

3DstuffUK also make a Dyna-Soar! For the Project SWORD fan on a tight budget!

You could get anything 3D printed I imagine these days!

Have you got anything readers?

  1. Boy the Mars Lander looks exactly like the old Estes Model Rocket Mars Lander!

  2. It sure does. I don't have anything like it, but as a kid I build the big Saturn V rocket, and the capsule + LEM pair docked together. My kid has a foamcore shuttle plus tanks that we got when we visited the Endeavor here in Los Angeles.

  3. Those are very nice models, Woodsy. Spacex lander does indeed have a lovely toy-like feel to it.
What's the resolution like? I've looked into 3D printing a few times with spare parts in mind but so far I keep seeing little 'steps' in one direction or another. Best -- Paul

    1. I don't own them alas Paul, the pics are from the 3DStuffUK site. It really does look like a well made model for sure.

    1. Yes Ed. It came with a wrist watch too in another product! How cool is that!

  5. It would be great if somebody produced that SpaceX lander in polystyrene. 3D printed stuff doesn’t do it for me. Although I see it’s value for one-off or short-run production. Still, 3D printing seems like “a bridge too far” to me. I’m a “polystyrene forever” kinda guy. SFZ

    1. I've just thought SF, SpaceX Golden Astronaut would have made great little snap together kits! Like the Echo Car I once had.
