My Fave Toy Photo

Woodsy and Fellow Moonbasers,

Well, if pressed I would say this is my favorite toy photo. It's one of my early attempts at space art from back in 2012 and utilizes a Restoration Hardware Space Master X-7 tin-litho rocket superimposed over my home-made diorama base with Wotan's moon filling the skies behind.

  1. Nice stuff! My mind immediately goes to the 3D lenticular postcards of the era. There is a kit available to make your own lenticular photos.
Your photo is the perfect subject.

I've had one of these kits filed in my paper store for years, I intend to photograph my 2001 astronauts and make that Lobby Card I never had, but there are still too many extra bits of setting to make!

  2. Lovely stuff Ed, those cliffs are very Chesley Bonestell! My moon was a painted impasto job, from back in the day - nice to see it rise again! Bill

  3. Thanx Bill! The alien world diorama piece I made has come in handy for a number of photo shoots and as for backgrounds, I cull images from everywhere. I use a lot of Bettina's photos as backgrounds as well. By taking your moon and changing colors, I can use it in any number of spacey applications! Ya done good!
