Superb Kev! What a fantastical collection. I cant tell which is a proper prop and which you've made, which is testament to your skill. It must be an amazing feeling to own actual props that were part of the Dr. Who story and appeared on TV. Thanks for showing us all. Have you got these on display or safely stored away?
Thank you. Yep, they are all on display. I like having some original props, they are something special. I don't have a huge number, just these two, a space station and a pistol from 'Star Cops' and a Zeroid perch from Terrahawks. In addition, some original costumes and graphics from 'Star Cops '.
Forgive me if I've mentioned this before, but I worked on Dr Who : Silver Nemesis as a BBC VFX assistant, back in 1988. As one of my jobs was, occasionally, resetting the pyro charges in the Cyberguns and following the Cybermen, out of shot, with the batteries to fire them off (via wires going up the Cyber costume legs and down their arms, to the backs of the guns) I will have handled that very prop gun, on location.

Thanks Woodsy. That's the very sequence I worked on, featuring those guns. We spent days setting up and firing dozens of pryos and air mortars to create the battle between the Cybermen and the soldiers, who were also bad guys, as they were modern day (1980s) Nazis.
Well I may not be done with that stuff entirely yet Woodsy, but sure, I had a great time and I was , of course, young and full of energy then. I think I might find that shoot heavier going these days.

Oh wow! That's brilliant. The nozzle on mine is a repro, but there were traces of the circuitry inside it.

DeleteThanks. Yep, the Tesh gun does the lights and sound as well. Leela is so taken with that gun, she takes one into the next story with her!

ReplyDeleteNo, I got one from a company that makes replicas of the guns. When I got it, the gun was in a shocking state. I had it rechromed too.

ReplyDeleteYep, completely. The body is mdf clad in aluminium sheet. The drive comes from 2 Ford mondeo wiper motors!
