KING PET

Hi Woodsy,

Good to hear you still have the King Tut. Your post led me to wonder why a sarcophagus for pets had a human figure on the lid - bit of product re-use there, I think!

Re: mummies and pets, attached is a cartoon I drew a while ago.

Excellent - a cat Mummy - any other famous horror monsters in feline form ?

    1. The Cat People are probably the most famous Paul. A later version starred Malcolm McDowell and Anastasia Kinski as the were-cats.

  2. The Egyptians did actually mummify their moggies too - the cat god Bubastis watched over them. Unfortunately, Victorian grave despoilers just used them as fuel for bonfires. Bill

  3. Cat mummies were so common it is thought that they were acquired as souvenirs by ancient Egyptians visiting sacred sites; sometimes the mummies have been proven to be just a random collection of bones (not cat)! There is actually a stone sarcophagus for a pet cat in Cairo Museum.
