I've been Bugged!

In February I changed upon this old Lunar Bug.

I loved my own as a kid so I thought I'd do it up for Junior this Easter.

It just needed some first aid: a lick of paint, a little chrome and a new back door.

Any good?

Did you have a Lunar Bug?

Alas, not a model I ever had. Something that has 'bugged' me for years, why does the Lunar Bug have air-breathing jet engines on top of the cabin, and wings, when there is no air on the Moon ?

    1. Spoken like a true pedant Paul! Its something which irritated me over the years, like the Spacex Helicopter P3! We can only assume that Corgi would think that kids wouldn't notice it. I think the main idea was to copy the Dinky Mac's Car from Joe 90 and steal a bit of their thunder. Bill

    2. Aren't those the same as Mac's air jets?

    4. Totally different shape to Macs Car - the twin turbines are fitted with a single exhaust in an extended U shape. These ones are more akin to standard aircraft engines, from a jet fighter or similar. The resemblance wont be accidental though!

  2. If those almond slices come individually wrapped would one fit inside the Bug??

  3. This is a really good 'space age' toy design. As I was 10 when it came out, I have no idea why I didn't get it.
Maybe it was expensive and I was keener to get the UFO TV Series related Dinky Toys that came out around the same time.

  4. A nice vintage find, Woodsy. I'm sure Junior will have many an adventure with this.
