Woodsy and Gang,
I picked this up recently and was a bit surprised at just how small it was as you can see by the comparison shot.
It's from Linemar and is one of their 'Elegant Miniatures' offerings. Kind of like Matchbox but smaller, the line consisted of planes, trains, automobiles, trucks, etc.
All done in cast metal and individually boxed (although mine is missing the box).
You got any?

I do not know this line, but that is a really nice little model. A good find.
ReplyDeleteThanx Paul! It's an interesting little piece but other than this little space buggy, I don't believe I'll pursue any more of these 'Elegant Miniatures'.
DeleteLovely this Ed. A like the whole line. There's a larger tin version of this space tank I think.
ReplyDeleteThanx Woodsy! There's a certain family resemblance to other Marx space vehicles and I believe I've seen other manufacturer's versions as well.
DeleteThe design also turns up in some of the Marx space sets too. It's loosely based on a Chesley Bonestell illustration, I think
ReplyDeleteI believe you're right - hard to keep a good idea down.
DeleteI've got a couple of Japanese "Hand Painted Finest Miniatures" in that same scale, among them a futuristic car with three wings. They come bagged with brand mark "W".
ReplyDeleteInteresting Arto! I've never seen the 'W' mark on packaging before. I tend to do random searches for space toys, maybe one will show up some day.
DeleteThat is seriously adorable! SFZ
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYes, lovely Ed. Your collection is eclectic!
ReplyDeleteYes it is Woodsy :-)
