REMAINS OF 'ELMETS

These two bits of headgear came into Moonbase last year.

For a bit of fun, I'll let you say what they are readers.

The lower beret has a British badge with crown, and it is green, which is the colour of the Commandos. So perhaps from an Action Man Commando set ?

  5. It looks black on my screen and the patch, though it has lost a lot of paint resembles one I have seen online described as a black beret. You may be right.

  6. The black beret was used by some special forces until the 1990s when it was more widely issued.

  7. Could be worse, back in the day when I was a kid, I asked my mum to make a beret for my action man, so what I received was a green crochet hat that looked liked my action man figure had a green curly bubble perm, much hilarity at junior school, all my friends mocked me relentlessly for weeks

That is really weird. On my screen the beret is a medium green - nowhere near black. In the British Army the black beret was a dress distinction of the Royal Tank Regiment, although it was later extended to other elements of the Royal Armoured Corps. There was also a dark blue beret, used by some units, which can look black.
Taking a closer look at the badge, it does look like the RTR design, which has a WW1 heavy tank in the centre.
Can Woodsy tell us what the colour really is, and if the badge has a tank in the centre ?
