ED's TIN: THE TT BOEING 727 MADE IN JAPAN

Woodsy and gang,

Here's another one of my small airliners.

I have several of these made with a tail wheel instead of having proper tricycle gear. You can tell by looking at the plane that the rear portion would be heavier causing it tip back on its behind, but I suppose it was cheaper to put a wheel back there vs. adding more weight to the nose. It measures 10" (25.4cm) L 3 3/8" (8.6cm) H 9 3/8" (23.8cm) wingspan.

  1. This 727 is real eye-catcher. For me it embodies the glamour of bygone air travel. Beautiful piece of tin, Ed.

    1. Thanx Tony! Airliners are just beautiful planes. The older ones of course hit that nostalgia nerve but I even like seeing the modern ones that fly over the house.

  2. Good lord that’s a beautiful bird! The bare tin is too cool for words, the giant landing gear, the beautiful box art, how pretty! SFZ

I always thought the Boeing 727 was an especially pretty aeroplane, with its high T-tail and three rear-mounted jet engines.

  4. Not a real fan of planes and not a real fan of tin.
But the colour and the shine of this one is mesmerising.
What a great show piece !

    1. Thanx Mish! Fortunately I'm a fan of just about everything (keeps life innerestin'), About the only thing I can't get into is wooden toys. There's certainly a place for them in the collecting world but I have a hard time generating interest. The 'yawn factor' is just too great. :-)
