This is an unusual Man from Uncle car by Carlos V I saw on auction. It's Argentinian and clearly influenced by the die-cast many of us had as kids. A rather fragile looking thing. What do you think?
Hey, it's got the Uncle logo on the bonnet -it must be legit! What is CIPOL? According to TV Tropes, "The Latin American name of the series was translated as ''El agente de CIPOL" (The Agent of CIPOL), being CIPOL the Spanish acronym of " Comisión Internacional Para la Observancia de la Ley" (International Council for Law Enforcement)."
That is a really interesting toy, and one I have not seen before. The car on the Corgi packaging was orange, while the die-casts were either blue (common) or white (less common). So this Argentinian toy matches the Corgi box art.
Just as a coincidence, I needed an assassin in yesterday's comic strip, so I used the "Man From UNCLE" Piranha car, as well as the Thrush M3 Carbine in yesterday's comic strip. (Not to mention a stock computer prop from The Monkees, which also showed up in Man From UNCLE.
Sorry if it doesn't make much sense out of context. This is building toward the end of a long story arc. http://www.hirezfox.com/21cf/comics/tf20231113-AHoleInTheWall.jpg

Thanks! I've had great fun pulling inspiration for my strip from Moonbase Central. Sticking things in the background here and there.
The Computer in the background here, I first saw in a Monkees episode where it gets the best of Peter at a job interview, then Mike gets the best of the computer at His Job Interiew.
It also showed up in a Man From Uncle episode that I barely remember: It had Roger Carmel (Harry Mudd from Star Trek) and I think the episode was called "The Ultimate Computer" (very Star Treky title.) I don't remember anything else about it. I think Napoleon was strying to destroy a Thrush computer, but that's all.
Ah, here's a picture of the computer from "The Ultimate Computer Affair." With Judy Carne. I didn't realize the computer had a plexiglass dome over the circle thingy. http://preppiesoftheapocalypse.blogspot.com/2015/10/the-man-from-uncle-ultimate-computer.html

ReplyDeleteThe Corgi connection is strong with this one... Here's the original Corgi art...

Fascinating that Paul and Looey. It is a direct lift! Carlos V also released a batmobile toy car as well.

I’ve got an empty box for that. Nice to know what the toy looks like so I can keep an eye out! Will O.
