DALEKS COLOURIZED!

Here are some screenshots released by the BBC, from the new 75 minute truncated colourised version of the BBC's first Dalek story which first aired in 1963. New Dalek dialogue has also been recorded,  rumoured to feature veteran actor and voice artist, David Graham. This Dalek special will air on BBC Four in the UK, on 23rd November at 7.30 pm.

  2. Interesting. I wonder if there will be a b/w version of the Peter Cushing movies?

  4. Ha,ha! So you don't think there'll be much demand for a black and white version, Mish.
Actually, I remember hiring a Super 8 full colour copy of the second Cushing Dalek film, Daleks Invasion Earth from a film hire company in the late seventies and playing it on my cine projector at home. The film was well used, and ended up snapping . I imagined I'd get charged a fortune for damaging it, so I went and bought a cheap film editing kit from Dixon's. It worked a treat, and came in handy later when I made a short home made cine film showing my Fireball XL5 model launching, also in full colour, of course :D

  5. Those colour stills look good but as the original b/w tape was 405 lines and looks not too sharp when broadcast on 625 line colour TV it should be interesting to see how a hi-definition colour version looks.

    1. An intriguing point, Terra. To be honest I've no idea what technical jiggery pokery Bad Wolf, the company that's apparently worked on the special, has used, . My standard DVD version looks reasonable enough on my 55" TV.
