I reckon the sixties Batmobile gets my vote, Woodsy. I like the look of the Monkeemobile, although I was never keen on the TV series. The Lotus 7 could be a contender, but even at 1/25 scale it's a very small model. I really like the clean boxy shape of the AMT Shuttlecraft , even though it isn't accurate. The model I found a pig to build is the UNCLE Piranha, so that comes last!
I had a few of the Johnny Lightning 1:25 metal Batmobiles, very fiddly builds, but then not as fiddly as Lego's ultimate Batmobile, so many tiny black parts, I may have used this anolgy before, its like the short sighted guy that confuses kellogs cornflakes for a puzzle and has great difficulty putting it together cos it seems to be all beak!!!
Back before VAT hit the UK a Purchase Tax was applied to cars. The Lotus 7 was sold as a Kit Car, major assemblies like gearboxes and axles were provided assembled but body was off chassis etc. A competent mechanic could put all the pieces together in a day or two and the Kit was TAX FREE. This ended when VAT began and Kit sales dropped off. I believe in an episode of The Prisoner Number 6 refers to having built his car.
Thanks for the additional info, Terra. I've got a friend who made one of these kit cars (It wasn't a Lotus or Caterham, but a similar design) I believe they had phenomenal acceleration, but very draughty! Number 6 does indeed say he built his car (I think the episode is'Many Happy Returns ')
I'm a bit of a fan myself, Baron. Here's a recent post I did on the Tamiya Lotus kit I built. https://projectswordtoys.blogspot.com/2022/08/tamiya-lotus-super-7-sii-kit.html
Neat! Seeing the battery sitting up on the shelf, I'm reminded of both my old Beetle and my Miata, both of which had imaginative locations for the battery.
It's certainly a handy place to get to if you need to change it. Modern engines look like something from the Starship Enterprise now. I've no idea where the battery is in my Mini One! :D
A gorgeous fleet Scoop. Which is your favourite?

Nice Shuttle Craft, Scoop. Not seen this before, wondered who made it and when?
ReplyDeleteIt's the AMT kit, Tony. I did a post on it a while back. https://projectswordtoys.blogspot.com/2022/10/a-look-at-amt-star-trek-shuttlecraft.html
DeleteI think I had the shuttle and the Batmobile. They all look great.
ReplyDeleteThanks Baron. Hopefully, a couple more, the Sunbeam Tiger and the Stutz Bearcat, should be added soon.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the 'information!'. ; )
