Will Power

Here's a Superior toys target game from the late 1930's I think. I love the spaceship gun! You?

A nice game, but I think much later than the 1930s. The spaceships actually seem to be based on various aircraft, mainly 1950s. The yellow twin-fin design -score 200 - looks like a US Navy Vought F7U Cutlass fighter, and the twin-jet below it - score 300 - looks like a WW2 German Messerschmitt Me-262 jet. Still looks like fun.

    1. Yes Paul. I think you’re right. Looking closely it looks like it’s more late 50s. Good spot. Will O.

  2. I think 300 score is the Bell X-1 and 200 maybe a Delta dart - the whole thing is probably made by Marx, the gun itself had many variations including being dragooned into the Batman range of toys, as a blue triple jet Dart gun! Bill

  4. Great game, thanks for showing Will.

Thanks also to Bill who solved the mystery of my blue Triple Jet Dart Gun. The only marking on it is the patent number 13119/55, which I think dates the original design pretty well.

I wonder if the blue version saw release also as a non-Batman toy?

  5. This space one appears to be boxed or have a large envelope with instructions. Hard to tell. https://classicspacegames.com/vintage-1950s-superior-usa-rocket-space-dart-gun-toy-large-tin-target-board.html

  7. The gun itself was released endlessly by Marx in loads of different variations. Ive got a red and beige version at home. Bill
