I jokingly referred to the shuttle in our Battlestar Galactica game as a DUKW last week. Turned out the GM took it personally. So I didn't bring up that script I once nixed that centered around a DUKW...
It is always good to see the DUKW get some coverage. It must be the most famous amphibious truck in the world. I recall building the excellent Airfix kit back in the 1970s, and there have been a number of other kits of the type over the years. Toy makers also obviously love the type.
Woodsy, that's a MPC fantasy variant sold as part of their space toy line. MPC was a master at re-purposing/re-packaging their toys. Green ringhands with carbines and helmets were Army men. The same ringhands in yellow, gold (or a multitude of colors) equipped with very spacey looking accessories became Space Force troops. In white and equipped with skis and they became arctic patrol troops.
