GETTING AHEAD!

Sometimes I get fixations.

One of them is PEZ with monster heads.

The original 1965 Universal monster heads PEZ cost an arm and leg so I'm always dreaming up alternatives. Aurora kit monster heads would do classy but where would you get them!

Cheaper options include my new Burger King Frankenstein. Would his head make a decent PEZ?

and then of course there's 1972's Dr. Skull explained clearly here on You Tube.

I picked up a little toy skull in Germany. Not quite the Doctor but he may do well or of course there's always a modern party favour like this old bonehead on Amazon.

Have you got a monster head?

  1. Back in the day, I had a Frankenstein and Wolfman PEZ (along with a Lunar Astronaut) There was also a Creature from the black Lagoon available, but I didn't have that one. The head sculpts looked like direct copies of the Aurora kits. Sadly PEZ have never been engineered for robust longevity. In the 60's, the sweet magazine was moulded from very thin styrene and was susceptible to breakage from sideways forces.
These days (and I only really know because I'm helping a neighbourhood kid make custom Mario World heads) the metal spring in the neck has been replaced with a polyethylene leaf spring which has a very short product life!
I wonder what percentage of the planet's landfill area is taken up with broken PEZ toys?

    1. It's a whole world to itself ain't it Rob, PEZ! I'm just starting to get the lingo and the feet watershed. Those Mario world heads sound ace! Pictures please.

  2. Ah, PEZ! I had the PEZ Space Laser Gun (in red) as a kid, and I sold it on ebay about twenty years ago for a pretty penny. Do I wish I had saved it?Of course! SFZ
