I caught UFO the other day. It struck me that the high-pitched screeching engine noise of the alien flying saucers sounds like a Tie-Fighter from Star Wars.
Obviously UFO got there first so did that engine screech influence the Tie-Fighter sound team?
What do you think?
I believe the TIE Fighter was a mashup practical sound effect of an elephant and car, and possibly something else like a Lions Roar.
ReplyDeleteGerry Andersons UFOs sound effects were created electronically using an Ondes Martenot and tape echo feedback by Barry Grey. Its a great innovative sound effect and captures the spinning effect of the UFO perfectly.
I think I must have been watching a different UFO! I dont recall the UFO's sounding anything like the TIE Fighter roar, more of a an electronic oscillation!
