ARTO CLEANED UP!

Last month's bi-annual Clean-up Day was quite productive, finding this 1/12 scale Bandai Ferrari Flat 12 kit from 1968.

I was a bit gobsmacked to come across such a rare bird, unstarted and all!

What do you think?

That is a great find. Kits from that far back are certainly rare in New Zealand, but sometimes you see something from the 1960s - my earliest kit seems to be from 1959.

    1. Thanks Paul. The Ferrari kit is a rare survivor, especially with its large 42 x 24 x 5 cm box which miraculously has remained intact.

There was a special hobby kit store in Helsinki which operated for half a century up and until the 1980's. When it closed down, a warehouse of old stock was found, among them some true and rare US and Japanese gems. All sold on eBay now.

  2. That is a classic, and worth a pretty penny methinks! My beloved Paramount Hobbies imported this beauty in '69, and added their logo to the box. I saw this one in a toy store circa 1970, but sadly did not have the cash for it then - nor would I now!
