WHISTLING WITH MISTER JOE

Ah, the Bazooka Joe whistle ring!

What a ring of beauty, and along with Joe's waxy mini-comics, one that completely reminds me of those golden years back in the late Sixties and early Seventies when I was young and had not a care in the world except for blowing on my Bazooka Joe ring!

Oh, that sound!

That was the sound of childhood, of long hot shirtless summers, of Choppers, of Mum shouting 'tea's ready' through the open kitchen door, of Tizer, of Puffa Puffa Rice and of chewing big blocks of pink Bazooka Joe chewing gum till my jaws were sore!

Did you Bazooka Joe readers?

  1. Not that I recall. Long ago, one business had plastic popsicle sticks with patterns...good for kitbashing

    1. Yes! I remember those! My Missus said she had similar plastic sticks with objects on inside candy lollipops. Cars, animals.

    1. Ah, sending off for the ring! A rite of passage. How I'd love to feel how we felt that Day again Bill!

  3. Bazooka Joe was my favourite bubble gum, though I don't recall any comics.
My favourite chewing gum was Dentyne. Remember that? It had a sort of 'medical' taste to it.

    1. Comics were tiny waxy sheets inside the wrapper Mish. One in each. Lovely glossy feel to them. As for Dentyne, oh my God! That's a blast from the past! Yuk! Like Calamine lotion in chewy form!
