The Matchbox-sized Tomica die-cast range is made by Tomy of Japan. Their Mitsubishi Fuso Animal Carrier truck had a large plastic cage on the back, containing various animals. Usually two of the same species.
This truck is to 1/102nd scale. According to the Tomica Wiki pages for this model, it was available 1998-2002 with a pair of gorillas in the back, as model number 102 (previously 76, with different animals).
The gorillas could be either brown or black. I do not have this version, but I do have the Panda truck.

Is Tomica like a junior brand of Tomy Paul?
ReplyDeleteThere are not a lot of Tomica models around in New Zealand. As I understand it, Tomica is the brand name Tomy use for their die-casts. In the same way that Lesney used the Matchbox name for its die-cast vehicles up until the 1980s (after that the company name was changed to Matchbox).
