Here are pix of some of the vintage dimestore toys I’ve collected over the past several years.
I remember vividly being allowed to buy one such toy if I was a “good boy” during a trip to the doctor or dentist or some relatives.
Usually, I’d get a car or a truck, but sometimes, I’d get a magic trick or a puzzle or a toy musical instrument. This would be early 1960s. And even back then, I would obsess on the cool graphics on the headers!

ReplyDeleteYeh, those were the days! Grainy paper, process colors, primitive art, and the coolest plastic toys inside. I remember some dimestore gems, like the Flying Saucer toy, like they were yesterday! SFZ

DeleteI loved these cheap rack toys, there was always something to buy with my pocket money. Usually something space related, but sometimes army or a toy gun. The graphics on the magnet card are brilliant! Bill
ReplyDeleteYep, I bought so many cars, trucks, trains and spaceships in that format back in the day. Those vintage ones are out of my budget nowadays, so I settled for whatever I could snag on eBay. Super Mighty Magnet is my favorite. SFZ
