A HUM DINGER! THE ROCKET SHIP WHIRLER

I thought this was interesting on auction, a vintage whirler.


Measuring 4.5" x 3.25" it says on the card that it should be whirled around the head to make it hum.

Ever seen anything like it readers?

    In its early days, TV21 had a free gift of a cutout Fireball XL5 on a card sheet. When assembled you could 'fly' it using some thin string or cotton.

    From memory it had a paper strip attached somewhere, which made it buzz.

    its one of the oldest toy concepts around, based on the australian aborigine 'bullroarer' or 'turndun' which was used as a ritual musical instrument, or for driving and scaring wildlife. Essentially a flat piece of wood whirled around on a long string. Bill

    I remember these from th 60s.
    I think they were often free gifts inside comics, and were usually plane or space related.
