Stamp of Approval

A while back, Woodsy bought me a pack of used foreign postage stamps, all with a space theme, opening my eyes to the beauty of philatelic design.
Considering the size of some of the stamps, one or two are less than a couple of centimetres long, the illustration and designs are wonderful. I have a special fascination with the eastern European and Russian issues, which celebrate the many spectacular achievements in space travel.
Some have fanciful representations of the craft and astronauts on them and others are tiny masterpieces of  technical illustration.
All of them are fascinating and tiny records of events in the great race into space.

I recall New Zealand issued a couple of stamps for the opening of the first satellite ground station in NZ back in the early 1970s - a big deal in those days. Nice collection.

  2. My Mum's autograph album from WWII contains a stamp glued down and some bright spark has written above it, By Gum it's stuck! Stamps always remind me of it. This was a good bundle I say so myself!
