I was a monster nut as a kid.
My Brothers too.
The house was full of monster mags like Creepy and Eerie.
There were are also Warren's horror Photo-Story mags.
I remember them so well and I may have battered copies in the attic.
The internet saves the day again and here are the two classic covers.
The Mole People 1964 narrating the black and white B-movie of the same name from 1956.
The Horror of Party Beach based on the film of the same name from 1964. This magazine scared me to death as a kid. The film, which I've never seen, is meant to be rubbish!
Then there is Curse of the Frankenstein and Horror of Dracula, two classic horror movies given the black and white stills treatment too.
These photo-books or photo-stories are also known as Fumetti, which is news to me. oddly enough none of them are listed on Wikip's listing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photo_comics

I didn't have any of these, but did see one or two at friends' homes.

Yes, there were also photo stories in comics I recall Mish esp. Girls comics.
DeleteAh, someday let me tell you my “Horror of Party Beach” saga, a film I was obsessed with, since it was filmed 20 miles away from me, in Stamford, Connecticut! I have a long personal history with that beloved indie horror film. SF_Ziggurat
