JAPAN'S INFLATABLE VINYL TOY MOON BUS AND FRIENDS

These are new to the blog, Inflatable Vinyl Toys by AM from Japan.

There were three to choose from:

The wonderful Moon Bus.

The Navy plane.

and the puppy car.

I still don't know what a tab toy is. Do you?

here are some modern inflatable bullet trains by Bandai. How cool are those?

I have never seen these inflatable friction toys before. I do not know what a tab toy is - the only thing I could find were references to the tab-and-slot construction of tinplate toys. A tab of sheet metal from one part is inserted in to a slot in another part, and bent over, to hold the parts together. It could be the method of joining the Detachable Friction Motor to the plastic body, but that is just a guess. I can not imagine many examples of these would have survived.

  2. I think Paul may be right but "as tab toy" , to me, indicates an added function to the toy. The primary function in this case is the friction motor. Tab would seem to indicate it has an attachment point for a string (not included) to allow it to become a pull toy.

The puppy car has a tab that is not part of the vinyl and still bears remains of the red ribbon used. I can't see any tabs from those pics for the jet nor bus though.

However the trains have the tab molded as part of the vinyl but does not appear to have a friction motor.

    Just my two cents.
