Back in September I found a £1 doll in a Selby Charity shop.
Immediately I thought it was this, the notorious Lincoln International Girl Victim so brilliantly described by the Plaid Stallions site, but alas, no.
Searching the net for a proper one I discovered it would be a very dear exercise indeed to own this exact toy with the correct clothes, costing well over £200 on Ebay for a loose one or over £100 for an example on a professionally produced custom backing card [for example BKC].
Could I do it myself? Make a Victim? Taking my cue from Plaid Stallions' identification of the doll as a cheapo Sixties 'Mod Miss' by Jaeger I began searching Ebay around the world for one of these and to my astonishment found this bagged example in Italy.
£19 later, it arrived at Moonbase. Result!
I then began to get really excited, messing about printing some 'victim' fabric, with varying results, until I managed to produce a decent sample to make maybe one jumpsuit.
This sample has gone to the embroidery department of Moonbase [the Missus!] hopefully for some magic.

Further news in this story.
Only this December whilst mooching among the Charities in Selby again I couldn't believe my eyes. There, languishing in a dusty basket among friends, were two, yes TWO more Mod Miss Victim dolls! Or at least I think they are.
Just £6 later and they too have returned to Moonbase for further analysis.
If only I'd known that Selby would indeed provide a real Victim after all just four months later!
It's been quite a journey!

ReplyDeleteCheers Arto. It's an interesting puzzle, some Lincoln Victims wear a dress but most wear a jumpsuit in the handful of pics on the net. Both have the same cloth design. I'm going to go with the jumpsuit.
