Strange Observations about Captain Scarlet

I was looking through Getty Images when I came across a picture I knew, a well-known crew Century 21 crew shot, featured in the first year of the blog. In fact it was very kindly offered as a colour print by its taker, Alan Shubrook, former Century 21 model maker.

So when I saw this picture I was confused by two things:

https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/the-production-crew-of-gerry-and-sylvia-andersons-news-photo/101240711?adppopup=true

First, it credits it to Larry Ellis and not Alan Shubrook. Who's Larry Ellis?

Second, its states that the five at the front were 'actors who play Scarlet in live-action inserts'. I had thought they were members of the pop group The Spectrum, who played the Captain Scarlet theme song.

Any thoughts readers?

  1. That is hilarious! What a great photograph! Of course, those five lads at the front are the pop group "The Spectrum." Live-Action inserts on Captain Scarlet? Maybe a hand or two, but otherwise, I think not! Funny how writers who aren't familiar with a program can pen such obvious nonsense. I had a Captain Scarlet annual for the longest time which had a great photo of "The Spectrum," wish I had saved it...

  2. Larry Ellis is probly the owner of the original, rather than the photographer

  3. Keith Forsey, Spectrum drummer co-wrote the Simple Minds hit ‘Don’t you forget about me’

    1. Wow Dave, I love that song! Must be a nice little earner! Last year I posted this about Colin Forsey, his brother? https://projectswordtoys.blogspot.com/2021/05/colin-forsey-of-spectrum.html
