DO YOU STILL GET XMAS PRESENTS?

Now that we're all growed up, us baby boomers, do you still ask for Christmas presents from your nearest and dearest?

I don't mean those impromptu Xmas gifts that you never asked for but do you still issue a wants list or drop big hints?

Now I'm typing I suppose another questions is whether you actually still expect anything at Christmas?

The Missus and me have for the last few years just got each other a book to unwrap on the big day - to a maximum of £10.  This year with belts tightening it feels right.

As usual, any spare cash we have will go on gifts for our Grandchildren and Godchildren.

What do you do readers?

My wife wants a set of Breyer plastic horses for Christmas.

Over here, there's a very famous book "Misty of Chincoteague" about a pair of young children living on the coast of Virginia. Chincoteague Island is where a herd of wild horses live. My wife is a long time horse woman and tomboy and grew up with the stories.

We went on a vacation to Chincoteague. Kathy took her Misty Figurines and took photos of them on the beach. It made the Diorama a little more authentic. :)

Don't know about the UK, but Breyer horses are a big collectable for girls over here.

So, that's her Christmas present, (that she bought for herself.) So, I still have to find some small surprises (chocolates....? lingerie...?) for my best friend.

My Birthday was back in August. I got an i-Pad for drawing my cartoons. I think it'll count as my Christmas present as well. :)

  2. My wife has given up giving me anything.
She says I'm "too hard" and "have everything anyway".
I recently bought a vintage Henshin Cyborg with Lobster hand for my 65th birthday and told her "Thanks for the present"!

    1. Ha ha. I read a horror novel last year where people started to grow lobster hands Looey! They're awkward for sure!

    2. Actually I lied! She knew I'd like but would never buy for myself very good quality chocolates. I'm sharing them very slowly with our late night cuppas!

Well, this morning, I found something I actually do want for Christmas:
There's a toy and science fiction site on the web out of California you may have heard of?
    "Monsters In Motion"
    https://www.monstersinmotion.com/

They've always got some really neat stuff!

Today, I got an e-mail saying that they're selling a 2CD set of the music from the old 1960
s TV Show, "Twelve O'Clock High" which was about an American B-17 squadron fighting the Nazis out of their base in England.

I love the old theme music from the 1960s. Great Stuff!
Star Trek, Lost in Space, The Rat Patrol, Thunderbirds, Stingray, Supercar... There's a lot of really great music out there, and "Twelve O'Clock High" had some really good stuff.

    Any music fans out there?

    1. I like TV themes records too Scott. I have some BBC Sounds Effects records too. Don't know Twelve O Clock High or the Rat Patrol on TV but I've seen toys and games associated with the shows in my Toys of the Sixties book.
