Nice to see Woodsy give a mention to the B1 Bathyscaphe which appeared in the Stingray episode, The Golden Sea.
Although this small yellow submersible only appeared in that one episode it did feature a few times in TV Century 21.

It's a nice design and a great model. If I had the resources, I bet a working replica could be made!

DeleteOddly, Ron Embleton's rendering of the B1 is more stylish, dynamic and convincing than the model in the show.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Mish. In the episode it's quite sedentary, basically being lowered to the seabed and pulled up again, while in the strip it gets to transport VIP's, get captured and refitted by Titan, and used as a rescue craft. Much more exciting!
DeleteStrange co-incidence time - I'm currently making a (somewhat crude) 3D model of this for a Stingray strip I'm working on so I made the same trawl through my TV21's and t'interweb for pics.
