Very impressive seeing those vintage mint boxed Lincoln Thunderbird kits. So difficult to find, let alone in this condition. Amazing stuff, Arto. Brilliant to know that they've landed in your collection!
Thanks Tony. This particular auction was a special event for me, since I really related to Mr. Yanchus' collection & admired what he had been able to achieve. The full set of Lincoln Thunderbirds kits I felt was a once in a lifetime opportunity so I was chuffed to win the lot.
Wow. Great kits. I remember seeing those Lincoln Thunderbird kits in the shops, but I never had any. I did want them, but my Mother said no, they needed to be put together. I knew that, they were kits. So I missed out. That would be over 50 years ago.
Thanks so much Paul. I have always had a soft spot for Lincoln toys, but I never imagined a full set of TB kits to come up for sale. Everything in Mr. Yanchus' auction was high grade, it is amazing what a devoted collector can achieve!
Wow! What an amazing array! I had a Lincoln TB 3, which ended up being cannibalised for other childhood projects. Having a full set would have been beyond my dreams!
Andy Yanchus worked for Aurora for a number of years, so was very well connected in the kit industry. He really came to my attention with an article in Space Voyager magazine in the 80's and then later as colourist on Marvels Micronauts comic. His kit collection was unmatched.

ReplyDeleteIt was beyond mine too, Lewis. It would be interesting to know how this lot has survived for more than half a century. A set of samples perhaps?

ReplyDeleteHow will you store these precious items Arto? In boxes out of the light?
ReplyDeleteWith due diligence Woodsy, anything and everything to keep them safe on my watch!
ReplyDeleteSentry towers and dobermans!
ReplyDeleteBeware! The dogs are loose!
ReplyDeleteOMG the original packages of the Lincoln International Thunderbirds kits! You lucky dog you - I am insanely jealous!
ReplyDeleteThanks Zig. It was exasperating to pick and choose items from Mr. Yanchus' treasure trove, but the Lincoln set was a no-brainer!
