This is the Maks toy Royal Car, a version of which we have all seen recently on the TV during the sad rituals of the Queen's passing.
The late Queen, here young and comfy in the rear, is waving at her adoring crowds as she has since 1953. The new King Charles will be hoping for just a smidgeon of such devotion I imagine.
I wonder if this is a copy of the actual royal Royce stored on the Royal Yacht Britannia I saw in Edinburgh years ago?
It look likes a splendid plastic toy car and one I would have loved as a kid. I doubt I could afford one now!

I do not have any Royal cars, but in the 1960s Spot-On made a die-cast Royal Rolls Royce that is very similar to this toy. Today, Oxford Diecast make a number of Royal vehicles. I do have a couple of die-cast Coronation Coaches. There was also a book in the Shire Library series on Royal cars.
ReplyDeleteA book? Interesting Paul. I imagine there will be some souvenirs of the Queen's Royal funereal cortege this weekend, maybe even Royal cars as people attempt to capture this historic passing.

ReplyDeleteYes, I wonder if FAB1 was in some way influenced by the Royal Rolls Royce Scott. I agree there's an affinity. I understand a full-scale FAB1 was in attendance at Gerry's funeral.
