The card art of this Galaxy Space Gun caught my eye on an online auction. I wondered just what that cool flying ship was. Fortunately there are two toy positions and you can see the image clearly on the left.
Anyone know what that ship is?
Do you have any space pistols?
Looks to me like the ship is inspired by the "Space Battleship Yamato" or the "Argo" from the English translated "Starblazers."

Scott is right. it's 'inpired' by the Japanese anime 'Space Battleship Yamato'. It was translated into English and shown on US TV as 'Starblazers'. The British 'Starblazer' comic is not related and was printed fortnightly by DC Thompson &Co in the late 70s up to the early 1990s as a SF version of their 'Commando' war comics which are still being printed today.

DeleteWhilst the main "inspiration" is obviously the Space Battleship Yamato, the extendable side panels are a feature of the Gohten, a Yamato clone from the Japanese live action film The War in Space.
