I just looked this series up. Apparently, they date from the late 1980s. Mattel Spectra was a doll line made using Barbie moulds, but they had metallic, chromed bodies with a normal doll head, and colourful hair. Hence the need to buff their metallic bodies. Were they meant to be robots ?
ReplyDeleteOne of the boxes I found says Spectra - Outer Space Star ! Leader of the Shimmerons ! The back of the box says there are five gleaming, beaming teenage friends (four female, one male) from the planet Shimmeron. Plus a fluffy robot dog. They have decided to visit Earth, and try our Hot Dogs and shopping malls.
