BEHIND THE SCENES AT THUNDERBIRDS

One of a number of original behind the scenes films on You Tube, this is 9 minutes of pure Thunderbirds nostalgia including the great Derek Meddings and Gerry Anderson talking about the show. Its supermariofabulous!

What do you think readers?

Here are similar scenes on an old clip for Japanese TV viewers.

  1. I think it best to remember the magic, not how they created it

  2. Oh I dunno, I'm up for anything I can get, particularly on the original models. Probably stems from my 60's childhood when they toys we got were never quite right...wheels on TB3 I ask you lol. That said does anyone know where I can find an in depth item on the Tbirds are go TV show that appeared recently. I know it was mostly CGI but I believe they made rather large versions of the physical models for reference etc but can't seem to find anything more than a passing reference to them online. Any ideas chaps?

How the effects were created is part of the magic. I love seeing how the models were built, what existing items were used, and how the effects were done. Getting a chance to look behind the cameras, and travel back to the 1960s. Plus, being a modeller, I just love seeing all these great models.

  4. I cannot get enough of "behind the scenes" material on such a great genre as Supermarionation. Knowing how they did it does not diminish the magic for me one bit - in fact, when I look at the finished product, it STILL looks like magic to me!
