Angel Interceptor Prototype up for Auction

I received this email the other day concerning a prototype Angel Interceptor from 1979.

Dinky Toys TV Shows Space and Specials Blog reported on the upcoming auction. Have a read and click on the links.

Oddly enough I have seen something like this with very similar wheels and posted it some time ago.

Despite being yellow it looks very similar. What do you think?

  1. Very interesting indeed Woodsy. Makes me wonder why Dinky would take on the Angel Interceptor model (and that one only) when the whole business was about to be folded.

  2. It looks a more like a Vivid Imaginations Angel Interceptor to me, with the rubber nose cone removed.

  3. That Toy blog nails it!
I ID'd those designs the moment I saw them and you just confirmed it! Strange there are no maker's marks, but as you say, perhaps they were trying to avoid any "Imperial Entanglements".
Those Auctioneers should hang their heads in shame!

  4. There's one of those yellow versions of this as a Buy It Now on Todocollecion as we speak! https://www.todocoleccion.net/coches-a-escala/rara-nave-metal-battlestar-galactica-comando-g-ulises-31-anos-finales-70-9-centimetros-cab~x224101012

  5. Many thanks to Woodsy for providing more information about this model. Moonbase Central is an amazing collection of artifacts and experts!! This prototype is featured on my site and I have passed Woodsy's information to both the Auction house and the two Dinky experts who found this model back in the 80s. Please go to my site for further details of the provenance and also do not assume that the model is definitely not a Dinky prototype - at the end of UKs Dinky's manufacturing output many models were already outsourced to other countries. For example the last of the Galactic War Chariots were made in Italy and possibly some in Hong Kong. As with all auctions, 'Caveat Emptor' - let the buyer beware!
