LAUREL AND HARDY 'S SPANISH CAR

Old Spanish toy catalogues are fun to browse on Todocollecion.

Here's one from 1975.

Some nice vehicles there including my pal the Clim desert jeep again!

Here's a neat Laurel and Hardy car from Jyesa and maybe Mister Magoo. It's hard to see!

More of those plastic Funny men bottom left.

A pretty nifty space target game.

Did you have anything like this?

I have Laurel and Hardy in a US Army Jeep, which is a die-cast. I will see if I can unearth a photo or two. I do not think that is Mr Magoo - I do not recall him normally wearing a flat-topped top hat ? His hat was more rounded.

Many years ago we had the Glen Miller orchestra play on our seafront as a part of D-day commemoration, lots of people milling about dressed as American service men and a couple of jeeps framing the stage and professional dancers performing in front of the band, my mates Kev and Jon do an incredible Stan and Ollie impersonation, they sourced period perfect clothing and perfected the voices and moves over several years, now they decide to pitch up while the show is happening, to begin with just saying hello to the pensioners at the front of the crowd then moving into the service men, shaking their hands and swapping hats, then dancing in amongst the professional lindy hop dancers then tooting the horn of the jeeps in time to the music, utter chaos, the band were all laughing as well as the GI'S and the pensioners, I wish I had a photo of this it's not your Laurel and Hardy but pretty close, incidentally was this jeep based on Stan and Ollie's likeness from the cartoon?

    3. Great story MJ. No idea what licence this Spanish car had but it does look cartoon like. Do modern kids even know who they are?
