WE CONTROL THE VERTICAL: THE OUTER LIMITS BACK ON UK TV

Nice to read that The Outer Limits, the classic sci-fi 'Monster of the Week' series, which started out in 1963 is back on Talking Pictures TV Friday night at 8.00 pm.  This vintage show, narrated by Vic Perrin, who insisted there is nothing wrong with my television set, and along with that other vintage classic, The Twilight Zone was essential viewing when I was growing up. Although I've got the complete set on DVD, its good to see it back on UK TV.

Vic Perrin, the narrator of the series, seen here in an episode of Star Trek.

I remember having  one of the annuals, and almost a full set of bubble gum cards back in the sixties.

David McCallum, one of the men from UNCLE was under this make up!

Martin Landau, Commander Koenig from Space: 1999 is hiding behind this make up.

If you're in the UK, keep your eyes out for it!

  2. I really like these captivating gum cards and the annual, Scoop. Picked up a full set of cards well over 20 years ago and still enjoy them as much today. Nice to see some of them here. Thanks for the heads-up... I'll look out for the show on Talking Pictures!

  4. Thanks for the tip Scoop! I watched The TV Terror last night. Great stuff. Looking forward to more weekly monsters just like back in the Sixties! I enjoyed the Curse of the Crimson Alter on after it too, part of Caroline Munro's brilliant Cellar Club!

  5. Those cards gave me nightmares for years, especially the TV terror. I was given a full set of them and a contemporary set of WWII cards wth quite gruesome illustrations. It would be many years before I actually saw the OL series on TV and I was gutted they were all black and white! The Zanti Misfits still give me the creeps even now!

    1. I remember the WW2 cards, some nasty images, weren't some withdrawn following the release?

  6. Wasn't Robert Culp the Man from Galaxy X? The Chromite from 'The Mice' was an impressively scary card, unfortuantely the actual show wasn't half as disturbing.

    1. I think he was, Wotan. Culp was also in the excellent Demom with a glass hand, written by Harlan Ellison.
