ROCKETS AWAY! KEV'S NEW THUNDERBIRD 1 LAUNCH BAY

Hi,
Got this AIP kit of the Thunderbird 1 launch bay. My local model shop had a window display of Thunderbirds kits in 2021!

It needed a lot of work, I made a new floor, roof, side ramp and observation room! I also added lights.

Pleased with it though.

Thunderbirds are go,

Kevin

Thunderbirds are indeed Go. Nice build.

  3. Lovely job, Kev. I've toyed with buying a couple of those re-releases. The Thunderbird 2 hangar looks pretty good too. The problem is where do I put them all as I'm running out of a place to display them! ;D

  4. Thanks. Yep, space is a real problem. I am so far failing to move house because I need space (there's hardly anything worth buying available), so all my stuff is wrapped in bubble wrap and shoved in cupboards, it's far from ideal! The TB2 launch bay kit does look good but I suspect a lot would need to be added, including a load of ceiling lights.

  5. Looks great Kev. Thanks for sharing. You could do with moving to Tracy Island!

    1. Thanks. Yep, a vast array of concealed underground hangars would be ideal for my needs!

  6. Brilliant work as ever Kev, that second shot down looks like a still! Good to see the lemon squeezer and Airfix Girder Bridge still going strong!

  7. Thanks, yep, it is weird that some of the details on the kit are scale models of kit parts and old toys!

  8. Superb modelling skills, Kevin. I like how you've improvised the blastoff effect.

  9. Thanks, surprising how effective cotton wool can be when lit from below.

  10. V cool man, I just got the tb2 launch bay, really excited because have found it has like 15 (basic versions of) pod vehicles. I'm 37 tomorrow and I bought it for myself as a bday present. When I was 7-10 I had Tracy Island and tb 1-5 but I always saw adverts for the pod vehicles in the thunderbirds magazine but could never find them in my local hobby shop! So this is like a gift to me as a kid. And having the whole launch bay?! Amazing!! You've inspired me to do some kit bashing to try and upgrade it a bit!!
