MARS CARS

The Martian Excursion Vehicle has competition.

This Gripidee Gravidee car has the same MEV vibe.

Not to mention this Frabeze plug-in air freshener!

and what about the small vehicle in this Japanese jigsaw puzzle!

Have you a MEV lookalike?

  1. One of my favourite kit/toys as a kid was the Tamiya Apollo 1 moon tractor. It was a MEV style rover with a large transparent cockpit. Inside were two drivers and a large turbine structure that had a rotating illuminated colour wheel. The tank like rover came with a wheeled trailer that could attach to a tow hook.
There was also a bigger Jupiter 2 kit, which featured the same rover, but included a massive multi missile trailer instead. Very impressive, but beyond my pocket money funding!

    1. That Apollo 1 is really quite something Looey. Just had a look. What a great design, like something from Syd Mead. Wow!

  2. Ah, the lovely Gripidee Gravidee. Managed to have one of those for a very short while, and the Ranger Flying Saucer, another example of an SF vehicle that crawled along a flexible track. Good days!
