THE LAST CAR BOOT CATCH OF THE YEAR

Today was the last day for our local Wednesday car boot this year so the Missus and I trundled along to see what we could pick up one last time.  Above is the haul. A few die-casts, two Batman books, a Captain America shield and buzzer, a large Batmobile and three Amish dolls boxed - all 3 for a pound!

The Cap shield and Batmobile and books are for Junior. We also got him a Ninja Turtles duvet and pillow cover. He's over here tomorrow so hopefully they'll be cowabunga good!

I got two battered Corgi Batmobiles for 50p and thought I'd introduce Junior to a proper Batmobile toy! If I had the skill I'd so one of them up!

Three of the die-casts were Superfast - or Extrafast as my Missus calls them - and below is a snap of them after some basic touching-up I did with paint pens and sharpie markers. I don't have these three so they'll go straight into my Superfast cabinet.

A nice haul, and all the models look to be in very good condition. The red truck in the background with a radar scanner on top is one of the Rolamatics from the early 1970s. As the model rolled across the floor, a series of gears made part of the toy move - in the case of the Badger this was the radar scanner - does yours still work ? There were several other models with this feature, but it was a fairly short lived sales gimmick. Fun though.

    1. Yep, the revolving scanner still works Paul. I didn't think I could touch-up some small scratches the Badger had as that metallic bronze is not a colour I have in my paint pens. So I tried my Sharpie orange marker and was perfect. The two red vehicles were easier as I have a couple of different reds for touch-ups. The fire engine was the best condition model I found, near mint really. Just £1 and I was very pleased. My Missus found it on a table I'd walked past!

  2. There's something so satisfying about bringing back good car boot finds. Great hit with the Batmobiles... can't have enough Bat-wheels, Woodsy

    1. Yeah, I agree Tone. Car Boots are a wonderful thing but I know they're not for everyone. The Batmobiles were in a carrier of about 100 battered Corgi's and Dinky's. I could have done with tipping the whole lot out onto the ground but I couldn't really do that. Die-cast rummaging is done best in a very large tray, but hey ho, you deal with what you get at boot sales. I'll see what Junior makes of old scrap Corgi Batmobiles this weekend.

    1. Yeah Yorkie, there was also a battered rocket launcher from the same series, the one that looks like SHADO2. It was kaput though. I should have offered a tenner for the whole bag of die-casts! Regrets regrets!
