ULYSSES 31 SAUCER

I saw this on Spain's Todocollecion. I'm unsure if its just a flying saucer or a spinning top.

The graphics relate to Ulysses 31, which is a TV show I don't know.

Do you?

  1. Oh yes! I used to watch this show in the early 80s along with Astro Boy and Star Blazers. It was a French/Japanese co production that featured a quasi Heavy Metal stylistic in an Anime format.
I really liked it as it had a definite ending. In the last episode Ulysses confronts the Gods and all is resolved.
I have a robot fireman action figure in my collection, although the character turned out to be an incidental, only seen in one or two episodes!

  2. It was on the BBC in the 80s. The toys never made it to the UK though.
Popy in Japan made cool toys of the Odysseus mothership and a fighter that split into 3 vehicles.
The Japanese really know how to design spaceship toys.

  3. Ulysses was a fabulous animation series, which as Yorkie says, was available on BBC around tea time. Essentially a re-take of Homer's Odyssey, with the eponymous Ulysses journeing with a young Telemachus across the universe, at the mercy of modern iterations of the Greek pantheon of gods. I used to video record the episodes every week! I saw a Popy model of the Odysseus in a discount store once, but never managed to buy it for some reason, probably because I was broke!

  4. Judging by the mechanism in the top, this is a spinning toy, not something that featured in the cartoon.
