CARNATION EVAPORATED MILK: A TIN OF CREAMY NECTAR

I used to love Carnation milk.

It was a staple when I was a nipper and got sploshed neat onto a bowl of tinned fruit to give the juice that creamy boost.

I couldn't drink it but some people did.

I recall that we had a special pointed tool for piercing the can lid making a triangular hole, once on each side of the top.

Did you or do you like Carnation?

What's evaporated milk called in your country?

  1. From comedy double act Morecombe and Wise in the mid 70s :-

Ernie. There's a documentary programme on BBC 2 tonight about 'reincarnation'. Do you want to watch it ?

Eric. Not really, I'm not interested in tinned milk !

  2. That's not how I feel about Carnation, by the way.
We too used it on tinned fruit and I made very sweet 'sweets' from it, with coconut essence flavouring and flour, I think, at primary school.
