Sorry, I have no idea what any of you people are talking about. I think the only brand in the photo that made it to New Zealand would have been the Hai Karate aftershave - I do recall a karate chopping lady in a TV ad.
Hai Karate, Paul, that would be the amazonian-like Valerie Leon pursuing some wimpy looking bloke, and scaring the living daylights out of him! Be careful how you use it!;)
Tone,Tone, would you like a drink Tone?
ReplyDeleteWho is Tone, MJ, and does he want a pint of Watneys?:D
DeleteAbigail's Party, starring Alison Steadman, I think it's more eighties but it's quite brilliant!
DeleteActually the film came out in 77, my mistake
DeleteNot to worry, MJ,I've never seen it anyway! Party on! :D

ReplyDeleteTwo lovely red doors.
Theres a Bass Charington welcome inside.
Two lovely red doors."
Lyrics from a Cinema ad in 1971, for the famous brewers, that I saw in a west end cinema, with my mum, on holiday in London, that year.
I was 10.
Buy that man a Bass! There's a couple of Bass cinema ads on YouTube, Mish. We'll all go and have a steak dinner at a Bernie Inn next. Great stuff!:D

DeleteThank you. I remember the ad, but had no idea it was Valerie Leon in it. That was years before I saw her in any of her Hammer movies.
ReplyDelete"I'm only here for the beer"...
