I was in the band that followed, Paul the guitarist and singer always wanted to do a solo album and call it "Napoleon SOLO and the Gary-7" and have photos of 8 of his favorite characters from 60's tv! Napoleon Solo- lead guitar and vocals, Ilya Kuriakan -Hammond Organ (David mccallum actually played organ), Mr Spock- Vulcan Harp and so on... in fact anyone else got ideas for who else could fit this band??
That pin reminds of the promotional pins for thumbs up jeans from the gap store in the early 80s. Think it was a bit darker of a blue but a very simple design. It had a thumbs up hand in orange and I grabbed several dozen of them as it made me think of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A couple years later I met Douglas Adams during his book tour for So Long and Thanks For All The Fish. I gave him a couple of them during our brief meeting.
From the early 1980's Scottish band 'TV21' . They took their name from the comic.
ReplyDeleteThere was another band called TV21 as well - from Ormskirk in Lancashire. Formed 1979.
DeleteAnd another from Portsmouth around 97 that were heavily influenced by Bond, John Barry,Gerry Anderson, the Man from Uncle, Dick Dale and Link Wray
DeleteWow, such great influences MJ! Were you in it?

DeleteAmazing MJ. What a solo effort it would have been! How long did your TV21 last?

ReplyDeleteWhat was he like Lance, Douglas Adams? I remember being excited about watching Hitchhikers on TV. Essential viewing at the time.
