I often saw shire horses and carts at car boot sales and in charity shops when we were allowed to go there!
I've always just dismissed them as ceramic ornaments but after seeing this boxed version I realise now that they could be classed as toys. Vintage toys at that.
We had a horse and cart at my parent's house, on a sideboard, near the wine bottle souvenir from Portugal. For all I know it could have been plastic and not ceramic at all.

We had 'fashionable' 60s Kitch, like wire Atomic design magazine racks and Rocket shaped Lava Lamps, not that old Toby Jug / Horse Brass / Merry England nonsense!
ha ha, we had a healthy bit of both Mish I seem to recall. I can see that shore horse and cart giving my Action Man a lift across the Lancashire moors to Sindy's shack! My fave bit of tat among many was a life-size pirate pistol cigarette lighter on a wooden stand. I used to heft it often!

ha ha. I think the uniform was called the Lifeguard. There was a helmet and a cuirass and a nice sword in a scabbard. Long knee boots too. Loved that uniform.
DeleteI've got a long face so I've had all the horse jokes.. I got called Sea-Biscuit a lot, Mr.Ed too! We used to have a heavy horse show on our local common, I never went just in case it got confusing...
