Hi Woodsy
I am not sure if I have sent you this before, but here is a very interesting piece from Max's Models on You Tube, about kit designer Andy Yanchus, Aurora models, and kit design and production. Well worth a look, if you have not seen it before.

Yours Sincerely,

Haven't watched it, may do later, but Andy went on to be a colourist for Marvel Comics. He may have done a lot more than that of course, but his name was all over Marvel mags in the '80s, '90s, and beyond.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that Kid. Very interesting. Just looked and Andy must be in his late 70's now. Yeah, sounds like an interesting and colourful life in comics and models he's had so far. One site described him as an Aurora archivist, so he must have a huge collection.
DeleteThat is a considerable change in career direction. On looking up Mr Yanchus, he was born on 31st May 1944, which makes him 76, so spot on Woodsy. In addition to his work with Max from maxsmodels on You Tube, he is also listed as co-author of the book Aurora Monster Scenes, with Dennis Prince. This covers all the Aurora monster models and the stories behind them. Out of print, and the prices these days are insane.
ReplyDeleteSadly Andy passed away on 9/11/21 after a lengthy illness.
