NOT SOLYENT

I've been thinking about a film where the rich eat the poor. I had thought it was Solyent Green but it isn't that. Everyone get's those biscuits.

Anyone know what I'm on about?

  1. Yummers. Give me some of that Soylent Green. Sounds like a 2000AD Dredd story. Filmwise cant think of anything much. Socìety?

  2. In the film Soylent Green, it is revealed that dead humans are converted into food. It suggests the poor are the main victims, as the film ends with the hero saying something like "Next, they'll be farming us for food". It was based on Harry Harrison's story "Make Room Make Room", about an overcrowded earth where Soylent is actually a protein bar based on soya and lentils.

    1. Fascinating Andy. I remember in the film when Charlton H got him and his Dad some real beef. They were elated. A shocking film and like the best sci-fi scarily feasible!

  3. The Cook, The Thief, his wife and her lover had a cannibal type scene but it wasn't the main thrust of the movie. (Sorry - Helen Mirren joke - I'll get me coat.) High Rise had a rich vs poor theme although I can't recall off-hand (oooh, sorry again - really didn't mean that one!) if they resorted to eating the poor. Try Delicatessen which I think is French.

  4. Yup just googled Delicatessen and I reckon that may be the one you are thinking of - recall it from the golden days of VHS tapes.
