SPANISH BLUE BOX SPACE JET

Checking Spain's Todocollecion site I was amazed to see our old Blue Box space jet chums moonlighting on a display card issued by Jeysu?

Do you like them?

Sadly the company didn't release the rest of Blue Box's spaceships and plumped for these small chubby planes and open top roadsters.

The jet fighter on the card is the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, flown by the Spanish Air Force, and just about everyone else in NATO. Is the Blue Box toy meant to be a Starfighter, given that it has a similar T-tail and what appear to be wing-tip fuel tanks ? Or am I imagining things ? There are actually two versions of the car, with the top up, or top down. These look nothing like the vehicle on the card.

    1. No idea if its meant to be a Starfighter Paul sorry. This design was released by loads of toy companies, Blue Box being the most well known. As with many space-related toys the original designer in the 1960's could have taken inspiration from the cutting edge of aviation and space travel concepts seen in magazines and newsreels at the time.
