More of my photos from the 2019 Fanderson Supercelebration Convention, this time showing just a small sample of the fabulous Puppet display, with included screen-used original heads, as well as excellent replicas. There was even a small selection of surviving puppet parts from the time, including Troy Tempest's hand complete with watch.
Good gosh, these are beautiful displays. The puppets were as much an art form as the vehicles, and its so nice to see them preserved, both in retaining the originals and the magnificent replicas.
ReplyDeleteThe folk who own, and are happy to display the puppets are masters at their craft, and experts in restoring them to their former glory.
DeleteIntroducing "Zombie-Eyes" Joe 90...
ReplyDeleteIt's unsurprising that nearly every time I put photos up showing original and painstakingly restored puppets someone always makes a comment like this, presumably thinking it's never occurred to anyone else before.
DeleteFor anyone who is genuinely interested, some of the people who restore the puppets prefer to leave the original bleached out eyes in place, in spite of their look, while others are happier to change them for natural looking ones.
