Woodsy, I found this very interesting clip on a mini record player called the 8 Ban by Bandai of Japan, which plays 8cm vinyl records.
It is from 2004, and only lasted about a year. There was a fairly limited selection of records, which appear to be single-sided.
They only played one song each, so you would spend a lot of time changing records! But it is really cute.
