SIX AND A HALF MINUTES AND FIVE GOOD SOLDIERS

Just had boiled eggs for brekky. Yep, with soldiers too.

Even in lockdown they make me think that things are normal-ish. Especially in lockdown when things aren't.

Alas I over-boiled my eggs. They were hard. All hard.

Six and a half minutes is our rule for boiling. A good rolling boil and then the eggs in.

I did use eggs from two different boxes. Whether that affects the boilability I don't know.

Anyways, with those buttery soldiers in hand but giving up on dipping, I still enjoyed them and it reminded me completely that I'm not at work, it's mid-morning and I ain't got to go anywhere at all!

Now its time for coffee and then wrap my latest Ebay toy sale, a bucket of miniatures, which I certainly won't be retiring from!

How do you like your eggs in the morning?

  1. We have a cracking gadget bought at Lidl. It can cook up to sex eggs to perfect soft yolks every time, no error! It was £7, absolute bargain.

  2. I scramble mine in salted butter, gently folding them on a low heat and taking them out of the pan a little early to keep them moist. I then slide them onto buttered toast and grind cracked black pepper onto them. Serve with sweet black coffee.
    Delicious !

  3. Fried egg sandwiches, aka egg banjoes. Yummilicious. Or for a big breakfast I makes a cross between an omlette and fritata.
Fry cut up bacon, chipolata, mushroom and tomato. Add 2 whisked eggs and fry till bottom set. Put under grill till top nearly set and put nice strong cheddar slices on top. Back under grill till cheese is bubbling away. I usually then split it across 2 slices of buttered toast, add some HP, put another slice of toast on top of each to make sarnies. Scoff, snarfle, nomnomnom.
