Nostalgic Delinquency

Hi Woodsie, I was thinking about slingshots/catapults which are listed as an illegal weapon in Australia and I thought "Ah, when I were a lad I had one of those..." It's amazing the amount of stuff from our childhood that isn't permitted now!

I looked online to see if i could find my catapult, it was English made, from stiff red plastic with square rubber bands and a black polythene sling. But to no avail, this pic was the closest i could find.

My version was very rectilinear with reinforcing ribs on the back side.

Oh who's at the door?
- I can explain everything Officer...

Cheers, Looey

  1. When I was young, there were junk shops that sold crossbows! I bought an air pistol from such a shop and to test fire it, the shopkeeper suggested I fire it at the corner of the shop, from the inside!

  2. Sekiden air pellet guns and hand ignighted 'Bangers' and 'Air Bomb' fireworks were available to children in the 60s.
    Hard to believe now.

  3. I'm sure I had this catapult when I was a kid, as well as a Milbro catapult, which was a more robust one. In fact, I've still got a replacement Milbro, acquired back in the late '70s (I think).
